Impromptu visit to Caversham park

One thing I really like here in Reading is the serene lakeside parks. Im a one-with-the-nature kind of girl and I love anything lush and green. Since we have been getting quite a lot of consistent heat wave here in the UK(which is rare, may I add), everyone seems to be thoroughly enjoying and relishing it. It feels really good to relax near a riverside park, while soaking in the evening sun with the breeze caressing the face and cooling the sweatbeads off the forehead. Nothing like it!

So, yesterday evening when Prakash returned home from work, I was in a weird mood. I was tired, fatigued, and just irritable. He suggested we go for a drive since I had been inside the house the whole day. Fresh air always helps. So we packed up a bag of bread, a bottle of Coke and headed off to Caversham park!
We had to walk through a church and a cemetery to reach the wide front gate of the park. The breeze was crisp and we could hear the ducks quacking away at a distance. Perfection.

Im always amazed at how perfectly maintained these parks are. Grasses cut, flowers pruned and well watered, almost always clean with minimal garbage. The council deserves a pat on their back.
Coming from a place like India where parks are not given enough thought when it comes to maintenance, I find these to be quite appreciable!

Entrance of the park
Lovely flowers in the front of the park.
As soon  as we entered, we saw a flock of ducks - Hungry and charging towards anything which looks like food ! Excited, we started feeding them and quite honestly, I was scared out of my wits on how they charged on to me - quacking or rather, demanding to get more bread out of the little green plastic bag.

It was a wide stretch from there. Big trees, benches and just stretches of green grass along the river. Pure bliss.
We quickly found a spot and got comfortable. The visuals we got to see were amazing. Every now and then a kayak would pass through or a little yacht would make an appearance. The occasional sound of church bell going off in the background made the ambience perfect.

Kayaking in the sun <3
Huge, yet beautiful!
Few minutes after, the sun started shining on the river giving a spectacular glisten on the water and everything looked like a postcard picture! What really got my attention, was when two beautiful swans swam across from a distance to us. Wish I had gotten a good picture of it :)

Glistening water and rays of sunshine
We walked and reached over to the opposite end of the park which was more of a swan sanctuary. Wasn't as clean as the other end but still was a nice stretch of walk near to the river.

How cool are these house boats? And to know that people actually buy these and make it their home? Awesome-sauce!

We spent almost two hours there, taking in all the fresh air and whipping out the camera whenever we found something amusing. Soon enough our tummy started to rumble, only to notice that it was close to half past eight. Amazing how time flies when you are out and about in the fresh air. I loved being there. More visits for sure, or maybe a picnic? Of course, will go loaded with bread the next time! :)
